ArborCasa built treehouse with bridge

An Imgur user named ArborCasa has posted photos of his treehouse build for a client. Quite a nice concept of bridging from the existing home deck over to a tree house platform perched in an old oak tree. Ladders and stairs are always an awkward problem for a stand alone treehouse design and this bridge approach offers an interesting solution. One typically requires a steep hillside to achieve this ‘walk on’ accessibility, however, a multi story house with deck works, too.

The railings use disassembled wine barrels as balusters which offers a nice curved and organic look.

treehouse floor joists

The floor joists are set upon a triangle base attached to the trees using floating/sliding anchors to allow movement when the tree sways. This platform allows a two foot walkway around the tree house, itself measuring 8 feet wide by 12 feet long.

treehouse pine interior

Interior using thin pine ship lap planks (similar to tongue and groove) makes for a light and airy feeling. Cedar works well, too, as it is lighter weight and more rot resistant. However, its more expensive and the darker colour of red cedar has some drawbacks in a small space.
