Treehouse By Design is a web based project by David Montie. The goal of this site is to provide information resources about design, construction, and tree house living.

David is an artist who also lives in Vancouver and works with wood construction and digital media (e.g. davidmontie.com).

The treehouse project started on property in Canim Lake, BC. Wood was reclaimed from an abandoned 50 year old saw mill, several trees were identified near by as suitable to build in, and a computer model was created for a tree house structure that would fit the space.

This approach allowed me to find a design that was compatible with the trees, and the wood available to work with, before any real construction efforts began.

With some naive optimism, and hard work, I believe anyone can make a treehouse. I hope you enjoy the site and find the information useful and inspiring enough to help you to create your very own arboreal home.
